In the spring of 2018 Marres will present the exhibition Dreaming Awake, a layered version of a tropical rainforest in the Amazon. It is an exhibition about the touch, with the emphasis on the touch of people through its environment. Clammy, moist, sticky, deafening and breathtaking, the jungle is the most invasive form in which a landscape imposes itself on us. If you are in it you can not escape it. The pressure of the environment is so powerful and hypnotic that it brings visitors into a dream state. The immersive project was developed by Brazilian curator Luiza Mello and director of Marres Valentijn Byvanck in collaboration with artists Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Daniel Steegmann Mangrané and Luiz Zerbini.

The exhibition Dreaming Awake also includes a publication with the same title, edited by Luiza Mello, João Doria and Valentijn Byvanck, designed by João Doria and published by Automatica and Marres.

The publication will be published on March 9, 2018 and will be for sale at the online store of Marres and at the reception, for an amount of € 19.90. The publication is published in English. The publication consists of Eduardo Kohn, Bruno Latour and Eduardo Viveiros de Castro.
