Artists and archaeologists have many things in common. They peel off layers to come to a deeper understanding of reality. They compose experience from lifeless things and history. They imagine worlds on the basis of scarce materials. And they believe in the materiality of the invisible. This walking conversation in the exhibition The Materiality of the Invisible at Marres is about these and other affinities between art and archaeology.
